White and green

For quite a few months, my beloved friends, the books - read and unread - have been trapped in the moving boxes, left alone with their own kind, in the cold and far away from greedy reading eyes. After having experienced life in boxes, they did see the light, although briefly and poorly: they were piled up along one of the corridor walls, in utter disorder. How inconvenient for such loyal friends! Measures had to be taken and after more than 6 months of sweat and tears, they found their spot in the sun - and so did we, little by little. The guest room is the place. Tada!

In an almost all-white environment shared between the office space and the convertible couch, we added a (white, needless to say) bookcase to welcome them all with open arms. As much as I love a tidy place and organized lists, the book arrangement follows no specific order: the art books seem to be all on the left, the novels and poems are loosely standing on the right. In between, a few little animals - never without them, you know me - and trinkets of all shapes. Not too many, dust traps are not my favorite items. It is such a relief for the mind of the reader to see all the books finally in their own little world, standing straight and proud where they belong quite naturally.

The room is perfect for concentration and meditation: soft colors have that effect on me. One green spiky character did find its way in this soft-hued space: meet Tex-Avery-the-Cactus. Its funny shape seems to have come out of a Texas landscape and brings an undisciplined touch in a world of straight lines and peaceful austerity.

The place also seems to be a hit with our guests, it is a space meant to welcome them above all, so I am quite happy they seem to enjoy its quietness and the view on the garden. Our white and green space seems to be up and running, and boy it feels sooooo good!
